When selecting the type of coupling, the following items should be considered.
(1) The size and nature of the required transmission torque, the requirements for cushioning and vibration reduction functions, and whether resonance may occur.
(2) The degree of relative displacement between the two axes caused by manufacturing and assembly errors, shaft loading, thermal expansion and deformation, and relative motion between parts.
(3) The allowable dimensions and installation method, in order to facilitate the assembly, adjustment and maintenance of the necessary operating space. For large coupling, it should be possible to disassemble and assemble the shaft without axial movement.
In addition, the working environment, service life, lubrication, sealing and economy should also be considered, and then a suitable coupling type should be selected by referring to the characteristics of various couplings.
